Kids Capsule Wardrobe - The minimalist wardrobe for babies & children

The chaos in the children's wardrobe and the morning stress when it comes to finding the right clothes - it doesn't have to be like that. Help can create a capsule wardrobe for children.

What is a capsule wardrobe?

The term dates back to the 1970s and has long been a topic in America and Great Britain. In this country, the term has only become more popular in recent years, due to the growing trend towards minimalism and sustainability. In principle, it is about a coordinated wardrobe, with a few but timeless pieces of clothing that can be easily combined with each other. The aim is to avoid excessive clothing consumption and still always be appropriately dressed.

Capsule wardrobe for babies and children

Creating a capsule wardrobe for children can be a tremendous relief in everyday family life. However, it is not 100% comparable to that of an adult. Children grow and have different needs. We also use the capsule wardrobe when ordering and selecting our collections, so here are a few tips for creating one.

1. The inventory:

  • What still fits and what doesn't?
  • What was worn with pleasure and what not at all or rarely?
  • What else fits in the coming season?
  • What can be passed on to siblings?
  • Which pieces are cross-seasonal (e.g. pajamas, swimsuits)

2. The need:

What is needed for the coming season. If the children are older, you can definitely involve them here.

  • What does my child like to wear?
  • What do I value? What is important to me?
  • Which colors should it be or will it be?
  • Which materials do we prefer?
  • What dress size do you need next?
  • What is our planning for the near future (e.g. skiing, beach holidays, festivals...)

How much clothing does my child need?

Of course, the number of items of clothing also depends on how often people wash at home and what the clothes have to do in the children’s everyday lives. A child in a forest kindergarten certainly has different requirements than one in a normal kindergarten or a schoolchild.

What is important when it comes to great children's clothing?

When it comes to children's clothing, we pay particular attention to longevity and sustainability, i.e. production under fair conditions without the use of harmful substances. We like to choose clothes without flashy prints and patterns, so high-quality clothes can be worn by several children. We like to choose gender-neutral colors, but that doesn't mean that we only have gray. On the contrary, colors are for everyone. The budget also plays a role. High-quality children's clothing made from natural materials can sometimes cost more than what we know from fast fashion chains. It is therefore worth planning the exact number so that the budget stays within limits.

4. Implementation

Finally, the implementation of the capsule wardrobe. At Little Foxx, we already put our collections together to meet these criteria and make it easier for you to find everything for your baby and children with us. We would be happy to help you create a capsule wardrobe.

DAILY BRAT- organic kidswear and SUSUKOSHI- organic baby basics

These two brands of ours are excellent for getting started with the implementation of a capsule wardrobe.
