The name Grapefruit actually comes from a small village called Pamplemousses in the north of the island of Mauritius. This is where Melissa grew up and lived most of her life before she married Martijn and then moved to the Netherlands.
Melissa's mother still runs a tailoring business in Mauritius. Melissa learned many of her skills from her. With this experience, the Pompelmoes brand was born, a dream come true!
Since Pamplemousses is a historic place in the history of Mauritius and which both Martijn and Melissa cherish, they really wanted to make POMPELMOES a brand that feels like home. The packaging, the design and the choice of fabrics symbolize a feeling of coziness and wholeness!
